India’s 11th President APJ Abdul Kalam's Death Anniversary: Today The Country is Remembered as Missile Man

Abdul Kalam was honored as a  Bharat Ratna in the year 1997. He was honored to be India's highest civilian contribution to Scientific Research and Defense Technology. 


Today worldwide remembering Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam he was also known as Missile Man of India and also for his extraordinary creativity. On 27th July 2015, he was passed away suffering from a heart attack in Shillong. He was the only president in India with no political background. Kalam was one of the rare presidents in India who was loved by one and all for his simplicity.

Kalam was born on 15th October 1931 in Rameswaram of Tamil Nadu on a fisherman family. He grew up in a middle-class family and funds his education he used to sell newspapers in the bus stand. As a student, his favorite subjects were physics and mathematics. 

He was graduated in Physics and he did aerospace engineering at the Madras Institute of Technology. Kalam’s dream is to be a fighter pilot and was placed at ninth position out of 25 candidates but he missed the chance narrowly. At that time requirements are for Only eight candidates, however, kalam’s dream was to stay dream to achieve something bigger.

He joined the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in 1960 and after 19 years in 1979, he was transferred to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He was the project director at ISRO of India’s first Satellite Launch Vehicle SLV-III and in July 1980 he successfully deployed satellite Rohini in near-earth orbit.


India’s Integrated guided missile development program is also his responsibility to develop.
 In between 1992 and 1999, he was the Advisor to the Prime Minister as the Chief Scientific. 
Nuclear tests were conducted known as Pokhran-II as a chief project coordinator he has played an active role. He was honored with Bharat Ratna in 1997 and had a huge contribution to scientific research and defense technology.

In 2002 his turning point in his life was elected as the 11th President of India and also known as People’s President.
